Spring News at YFW!

This being human is a guest house, every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house empty of all its furniture.

Still treat each guest honorably, he may be clearing you out for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice, meet them at the door laughing, and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sent as a guide from beyond.


Mudra of the Month
Hansi Mudra
Also, called Gesture of the Inner Smile, this mudra activates the Anandamaya Kosha which is the bliss body and encompasses all the inherent positive qualities of our True Being.  Hansi means smiling or laughter.  This mudra directs breath awareness into the upper chest, neck and head and cultivates joy. Hansi mudra can be helpful for revealing our positive qualities, releasing tension in jaw, and enhancing immunity.

Sitting comfortably and supported; bring the tips of the index, middle, and ring fingers to the tips of the thumbs of each hand.  Pinky fingers gently extended. Let the back of hands rest on thighs or knees OR the hands can be held out to sides of body, with pinky fingers facing up.  Invite the mouth and jaw to relax completely and enjoy the feeling of a smile throughout your entire body within and without.

Yoga for the Greater Good

Yoga for the Greater Good is a donation-based karma yoga class, in which 100% of the proceeds  go directly to local organizations and/or people in our community who may benefit from this support.
Our first class will be led by YFW staff teacher, Jennifer Jones Hooft, RYT, in benefit of the Idaho Humane Society.

Sarah Lagasse, who is originally from Burlington, Vermont, began her yoga journey in 2008.  She graduated from the Shanti Yoga school of Boise in 2015, and is a Registered Yoga Teacher with a 200-hour designation through Yoga Alliance.  Sarah continues her studies in Viniyoga and Yoga Nidra with Jeanne Dillion.  She moved to Boise in 2014 with her husband and dog, Dot. She loves running and hiking with Dot in the foothills behind her home.  She has a Bachelors degree in accounting, however; when she moved to Boise, she switched gears to doing something she really loves–YOGA!
