As summer comes
the lights warm their souls
and bathe them in love
over and over again.

    Beat the Heat this Summer

    Sitali Breath

In this pranayama, the inhalation is moistened as it passes through the curl of the tongue so that you are “drinking†water-saturated air.

    • Sit in a comfortable position with the head, neck, and spine in alignment.
    • Close your eyes, breathe deeply but gently for several minutes, then open the mouth and form the lips into an “O.â€
    • If possible, curl the tongue lengthwise and project it out of the mouth (about 3/4 of an inch).
    • While gently lifting chin; inhale deeply through the opening across the top of tongue and into the mouth as if drinking through a straw.
    • Focus your attention on the cooling sensation of the breath as the abdomen and lower ribs expand.
    • Now, gently lowering chin; withdraw the tongue (or curl the tip under into the roof of mouth) and close the mouth, exhaling completely through the nostrils.
    • Repeat about 12 times.  ENJOY the peace feeling cool, calm, and centered.

Cyndi was inspired and guided by Shantara Sandberg and has been enjoying healing bowls in her life for over two years now.  Cyndi has expertise and training in the area of Mindfulness from Mindful Schools, in addition to being a certified speech therapist, and has practiced yoga with Jeanne Dillion for nearly 17 years. She has had a personal meditation practice for over 20 years and lives life mindfully with her two children and their sweet little dog.
